| With its idyllic location at a height of 1,263 m in French-speaking Switzerland, Leysin, in the very heart of Europe, is definitely the jewel of the Alpes Vaudoises. With its remarkable sunshine hours (which have ensured its reputation as a tourist attraction since the late 19th century) and its highly developed sports organisations and infrastructures, this resort offers a very wide range of activities all year round. It has succeeded in making a perfect combination between traditional charm and the vibrancy of a world-famous winter sports and Summer holiday centre. Located close to Lake Geneva, the Swiss Riviera (Montreux & Vevey) and Lausanne, Leysin is an ideal starting point for all kinds of interesting and rewarding excursions. Only twenty minutes from the European Motorway Network and ninety from Geneva International Airport, Leysin, with its excellent rail service, is easy to get to and has everything to make your language course a great success.
For our students coming from abroad, we can arrange simple transfers from Geneva Airport if this is required. If you decide to travel to Leysin by train, you can book yourself a welcoming service at the railway station. We also organise return coach transfers from the main Swiss towns. These transfers are a godsend for our students who then have a chance to travel with their new friends and get to know each other even before they reach the course centre. Standard course
|
The French classes take place in the morning. One lesson lasts 45 minutes and the class is made up of a maximum of 14 students. The teaching is based on the ideal combination of theory, games and other support materials in order that the learning of the language is done in a fun way. During the first day of classes, a placement test allows for the evaluation of the level of each new student and to form the classes according to their language skills..

LANGUAGE COURSES
Our aim
|
Our main goal is to awake students' interest in learning a language. In Fact, we feel that the more concerned our students feel the better they will learn. We achieve this, first of all, by creating a young and dynamic atmosphere in our lessons with topics that really motivate the students. Moreover, parallel activities complement the study work wonderfully by familiarising students with the spontaneous use of what they learned in the classroom. The programme is adapted to all levels and allows each student to improve his grammatical skills and develop his communication skills alongside his understanding of written and spoken French. Our principal strategy involves four important stages : discovery, improvement, revision and progression.

Placement of students in class-levels
On arrival, the participants take a test which will allow them to be placed in relevant groups with corresponding language levels. Each student will, therefore study in a class corresponding to his own level in the foreign language.
Teaching method
Our varied programme meets the requirements of a profitable and pleasant language holiday . Each teacher devises a programme appropriate to the level of his or her class using different recognised methods of learning French and various documents (newspaper articles for young people, etc.). Educational audio-visual support and media information are also used as part of the comprehensive teaching programme.
 | Leysin Residence (spring and summer)
| Only a few steps away from the course centre, students stay in a comfortable residence. The double or triple bedrooms are modern and are all equipped with a private bathroom, a television and a telephone. All meals, which are prepared using regional or international recipes, are served in the restaurant of the residence. During your free time, your friends and you will be able to make use out of the available facilities, including an Internet café and a common room. The young students are supervised on a 24-hour basis by the camp's group leaders who stay on-site.

Residence "Central"
|
Students stay at the heart of the Leysin resort, in a comfortable and welcoming hotel-residence. Each bedroom consists of 4 beds, a bathroom and a balcony. Prepared using regional and international recipes, all meals will be served to your in the residence's dining hall. You will also be able to make use out of the indoor swimming pool and the games room. The school's group leaders take charge of watching over the students and also live in the residence, making them available to students on a 24-hour basis.

Teaching staff
|
Our staff is composed of helpful and enthusiastic young teachers. They adapt themselves to their classes and give the individual attention that might be necessary. During sports or cultural afternoons teachers accompany and coach the students. They encourage them to speak French and to use what has been studied.

 | Certificates
| At the end of the course, each student receives a certificate confirming the progress achieved. It also attests that the students has participated in a language holiday course and indicates the level and grades obtained.
Depending on the student's level, the schedule of lessons set out above may alter significantly. Our lecture theatre in Leysin allows students to put on small shows for the benefit of others. Even during the afternoon and evening activities, students are encouraged to practice actively the language they are studying.

A DAILY PROGRAMME
Lesson 1:
Consolidating knowledge already acquired. Introducing and discovering new concepts in grammar, syntax and vocabulary.
Lesson 2:
Practical applicationof concepts touched on previously, through written and oral
exercises (in groups and individually)
Lesson 3:
Written and oral comprehension(newspapers, youthmagazines, audio-cassettes etc).
Lesson 4:
Oral and written expression through situations, role-plays, vocabulary games, theatre scenes etc.
 | Leisure programme
| The school proposes a wide choice of afternoon activities. Sports facilities are all within easy reach and visits to allow you to better discover the Lake Geneva region are organised. In the evening, discos and games are on the agenda. On Sundays, full-day excursions are organised, for example to Montreux/Vevey, Le Bouveret or Gruyères. You might also visit one of the region's museums, such as the Olympics Museum in Lausanne, the Alimentarium in Vevey or even the Château de Chillon. Water sports and swimming are also on the programme. Optional activities, such as tennis or horse-riding, need to be booked in advance whilst others (curling, yoga, Aquaparc, shopping in Lausanne etc.) may be organised on site.
Please note: it is not possible to combine either two optional activities or an optional activity and a communication or one-to-one course lesson in the same week.
